Biography
Sue Storm started as the Invisible Girl and ended up the strongest force on any Fantastic Four roster. Invisibility was the party trick; the force fields are the weapon. She generates hard psionic constructs she can shape at will, from a bubble around a burning building to a wedge driven through solid matter, and she can form them inside a body if she decides the fight is over.
Her arc across sixty years is the story of a character outgrowing her own name. Early Lee and Kirby issues had her fainting; by 1985 she had renamed herself the Invisible Woman and Marvel had stopped pretending she was support staff. The Malice storyline, where the Psycho-Man weaponised her buried rage into a sadistic alternate identity, was the turning point: Sue's power had always been limited by her restraint, not her ceiling.
She holds the family together and holds the line in cosmic wars, often in the same week. She has fronted the team while Reed was lost in the Negative Zone, sat on the Illuminati, negotiated with Atlantis, and gone toe to toe with the Silver Surfer and won. Ask any long-term Fantastic Four writer who wins a fight against the whole team and the answer is Sue.

Comics history
For the first decade Sue was written as the team's heart and its damsel, a framing that has aged badly and that Marvel has spent forty years correcting. The John Byrne era from 1981 did the heavy lifting: he escalated her force fields into a top-tier offensive power, put her through the loss of a second pregnancy, and then broke her open with Malice, the Psycho-Man's creation, before she renamed herself the Invisible Woman in 1985.
Later runs treated her as the team's true anchor. She fought the Silver Surfer to a standstill, held a shield against the Annihilation Wave, joined the Illuminati and co-ran the Future Foundation. Hickman's Secret Wars in 2015 ended with Sue and Reed rebuilding the multiverse together, and the 2018 relaunch brought her back as the family's undisputed leader.
