Biography
Emma Frost arrived as an enemy, in white leather, sitting at the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle table as its White Queen during the Dark Phoenix Saga. She is a first-class telepath with a genius for leverage: she reads a room, finds the fault line, and applies exactly enough pressure. A secondary mutation later gave her a second mode, an organic diamond body that shrugs off bullets and pain but switches her telepathy completely off, so every fight becomes a choice between being untouchable and being useful. Emma has never once apologised for enjoying the power, and the X-Men are better for having her.
What redeemed her was teaching, and what changed her was burying students. Trevor Fitzroy slaughtered her Hellions; Sentinels wiped out her Genoshan class, and her diamond form triggered for the first time under the rubble. She walked into Xavier's school afterwards as a teacher, started a psychic affair with Cyclops that detonated his marriage, and turned into one of the most consequential X-Men of the century: Phoenix Five queen, co-headmistress, and finally White Queen of Krakoa's Quiet Council, where she built the Hellfire Gala and used a red carpet as foreign policy.

Comics history
Emma is the best long-game character work in X-Men publishing. Claremont and Byrne created her as a Dark Phoenix Saga antagonist, and she stayed a villain through the 1980s until Generation X put her in charge of children again. Grant Morrison's New X-Men completed the turn, pairing her with Cyclops and making her the school's most effective and least trusted teacher. Warren Ellis, Matt Fraction and Kieron Gillen kept her at the centre of X-Men power politics, Avengers vs. X-Men briefly made her a Phoenix, and Hickman's Krakoa handed her a seat on the Quiet Council plus a party to run.
