Shaun parks cars in San Francisco with his best friend Katy and sings karaoke badly, and has not told her that he was raised as an assassin by a man who has ruled a criminal empire for a thousand years using ten mystical rings. A pendant robbery on a city bus ends that arrangement.
Wenwu is not a world-conquering caricature but a widower being whispered to by a prison of monsters pretending to be his wife, and Tony Leung plays him as the most human villain the MCU has had. The film is a wuxia family drama that unfortunately resolves in a CG dragon fight, which is the price of the ticket.

With a fresh perspective, an outstanding cast and thrilling fight sequences, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings tells one of the MCU's most compelling standalone stories.
The MarvelGossips verdict
The best-choreographed action in the MCU and a genuinely moving father-son tragedy, right up until the third act remembers it has to be a Marvel movie. Tony Leung is so good he distorts the film around him. Simu Liu and Awkwafina have real chemistry, and the bus sequence is the franchise's finest single set piece.
