Spider-Man: No Way Home Easter Eggs: 22 References Across Three Spider-Franchises

No Way Home is a nostalgia machine with a working engine, and it is disciplined about it: almost every reference does a job in the plot rather than sitting in the background waving. That makes the easter eggs unusually easy to verify, because most of them are spoken out loud. Here they are, sorted from the obvious to the genuinely obscure.

The returning-cast callbacks

1. J.K. Simmons opens the film. His J. Jonah Jameson is a direct continuation of the Sam Raimi performance, retooled as an InfoWars-style broadcaster instead of a newspaper editor.
2. 'I'm something of a scientist myself.' Norman Osborn's most-memed line from the 2002 Spider-Man is repeated almost verbatim.
3. Doc Ock's arms are the originals. Alfred Molina returns with the same practical-and-CG tentacle design, and his opening line to the wrong Peter, delivered as recognition, is the film's cleanest joke.
4. Electro without the blue. Jamie Foxx's redesign drops the glowing skin of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for a comics-accurate lightning silhouette, and his line wondering whether there is a Black Spider-Man somewhere is a nod to Miles Morales.
5. The Lizard's Curt Connors and the Sandman's Flint Marko both return with their original actors and their original motivations intact, including Marko's daughter.
6. Tobey's Peter has back pain. It is a joke about the actor's age and a nod to a character who has been doing this for twenty years.
7. Andrew's Peter catches MJ. The catch is staged as an inversion of Gwen Stacy's death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, right down to the hand position, and it is the emotional centre of his arc.

The comics deep cuts

8. The full responsibility line

Aunt May's dying words are 'with great power there must also come great responsibility,' which is the exact wording from Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, not the shortened version the Raimi films used. It is the first time the MCU says the line at all, and it waited five films to do it.

9. F.E.A.S.T.

The homeless shelter where Norman Osborn takes refuge is F.E.A.S.T., an organisation from the comics and the Insomniac games, canonically founded by Martin Li. It is a real institution in Spider-Man lore, not set dressing.

10. Matt Murdock's catch

Charlie Cox appears as Matt Murdock, catches a brick thrown through the window without looking, and says he is a very good lawyer. It is his first appearance in a Marvel Studios film and the beginning of the Netflix-era characters being folded in, a thread that leads directly to Daredevil: Born Again.

11. The Green Goblin's mask

Norman's second-act redesign strips off the Power Rangers helmet of 2002 and gives him a torn hood over his own face, which is far closer to the comics' Goblin. The glider and pumpkin bombs stay.

12. Five villains, not six

The film assembles the classic Sinister Six line-up and stops one short, which the marketing leaned on for months. Nobody in the film ever uses the name.

13. Ned's sling ring

Ned Leeds accidentally opens portals and jokes about it. In the comics, Ned Leeds is at one point the Hobgoblin. Marvel has never confirmed that is the intent, so treat it as a plant, not a promise.

The background details

The suit at the end has visible seams. That is the whole film's thesis in one costume.

The credits scenes

The mid-credits scene relocates Eddie Brock and Venom to a Mexican beach bar, where a bartender explains the Blip and Thanos to a man who missed all of it. Eddie is pulled back to his own universe by the spell, but a fragment of the symbiote stays behind on the counter, which is the MCU's first physical piece of Sony's Venom continuity. The post-credits is a full trailer for Multiverse of Madness.

What we could not confirm

We have left out several claims that circulate widely: a supposed Miles Morales reference hidden in graffiti, several alleged Insomniac game logos in the Queens street scenes, and a reading of the Sanctum's spell circles as containing character names. None of these are verifiable at broadcast resolution and none have been confirmed by the production. Foxx's Black Spider-Man line is a real Miles nod because it is spoken dialogue; the graffiti claim is not.
