Biography
Tony Masters has photographic reflexes: watch a movement once and his body owns it forever. He has copied Captain America's shield work, Daredevil's billy-club style, Bullseye's aim, Iron Fist's forms and Black Panther's footwork, which makes him one of the five most dangerous hand-to-hand fighters on Earth without a single enhanced muscle. He does not train. He watches.
The cost is what elevates him from a gimmick. Storing all that muscle memory overwrites his personal memory, so Masters has lost his own history — including, in Fred Van Lente's run, the fact that he was married and that his wife is the handler feeding him his own past. That is why he works as a mercenary rather than a warlord: with no self to protect, he sells the only asset he has, and he runs a school teaching henchmen how to survive working for supervillains.

Comics history
Michelinie and Pérez introduced Taskmaster in Avengers #195-196 (1980) with an immediately perfect hook: a villain who fights like every Avenger at once. He became a fixture of the Marvel underworld, training generations of henchmen for cash rather than ideology.
Fred Van Lente's Taskmaster (2010) supplied the memory-loss twist that reframed everything, and Udon and Jed MacKay have since kept him working as Marvel's most reliable mercenary utility player — Thunderbolts member, Deadpool foil, and the trainer who taught half the villains anyone has ever fought.
