Biography
Marvel's Dracula is not a horror-movie prop, he is a head of state. Since Tomb of Dracula in 1972 he has been written as the ruler of the vampire nation: a strategist with centuries of military experience, a genuine claim to nobility, and an appetite for legitimacy that keeps pulling him into superhero politics. He has fought the X-Men, Doctor Strange, Blade, the Avengers and Apocalypse, and negotiated with most of them too.
His modern high point is Blood Hunt (2024), where the vampire nation blots out the sun and turns global conquest into a coordinated military operation — the payoff to fifty years of Marvel treating Dracula as an actual sovereign power rather than a monster of the week. Blade remains his defining enemy, and their relationship is the closest thing Marvel horror has to Xavier and Magneto.

Comics history
Gerry Conway and Gene Colan launched Tomb of Dracula in 1972 after the Comics Code relaxed its ban on vampires, and Marv Wolfman's long run on the title — which introduced Blade — turned Dracula into a genuine Marvel character rather than a licensed monster. He has since anchored Blade, Midnight Sons, X-Men crossovers and, most recently, the company-wide Blood Hunt event in 2024.
